I used to work with this lovely momma and getting to see her, and her adorable little girl, every fall is something I always look forward to. We’ve done the super urban locations in Uptown Minneapolis, the gorgeous towering pines location in St. Paul, and now we’ve added the stunning field location on the Maple Grove border to the list.

This stunning family had so much fun at their studio session a few months ago that they came back for some outdoor photos; now THAT’S variety! For their outdoor session, we met up at my Petite Session field location just north of Minneapolis, in the NW suburbs, and the October sunset was stunning. As I always do, we captured a mixed of traditional, everyone-look-at-the-camera-and-smile images along with candid, genuine images of the kids laughing, mom and dad holding hands, and generally just soaking in the love and beauty of each other.

I loved how everyone in the family rallied together at our session this year and didn’t let the cold, wind, and clouds stifle the laughs. This Minnesota fall has really been a bummer but this lovely field on the border of Maple Grove and Champlin makes up for it. I have to tell you about this little love muffin; the blonde one, the two year old. He walks up to me at the start of our session to introduce himself (I’d met everyone else in the family before) and says, in the quietest, sweetest little voice, “Hi I’m Sully Bear.” His name is Sullivan and his nickname is, quite fittingly, Sully or – as I now know – Sully Bear. It melted my damn heart right then and there! And he stayed a little trooper throughout our chilly session on St. Paul’s iconic Raspberry Island; his big brother did too. So sweet, so silly, so full of life and love. Gosh, I just adore toddlers. Do I get as many images as my galleries with big kids? No, not usually. But how can these little guys not make your day with their perfect little faces?

It’s no secret that I love my Petite Session field, located just north of Minneapolis, a whoooooole bunch. But it’s not just for Petite Sessions; my Standard Sessions are perfect there as well! This family has been coming to me for years and we’ve gone everywhere from the beach, to a tree farm, to the Stone Arch Bridge area of Minneapolis. This year?
