I have been photographing this family, with these sweet girls, for years and every. single. year. they are even more lovely and joyful than the last. I leave each of our sessions wishing I had a sister and a bond like these two girls have.

I loved how everyone in the family rallied together at our session this year and didn’t let the cold, wind, and clouds stifle the laughs. This Minnesota fall has really been a bummer but this lovely field on the border of Maple Grove and Champlin makes up for it. I have to tell you about this little love muffin; the blonde one, the two year old. He walks up to me at the start of our session to introduce himself (I’d met everyone else in the family before) and says, in the quietest, sweetest little voice, “Hi I’m Sully Bear.” His name is Sullivan and his nickname is, quite fittingly, Sully or – as I now know – Sully Bear. It melted my damn heart right then and there! And he stayed a little trooper throughout our chilly session on St. Paul’s iconic Raspberry Island; his big brother did too. So sweet, so silly, so full of life and love. Gosh, I just adore toddlers. Do I get as many images as my galleries with big kids? No, not usually. But how can these little guys not make your day with their perfect little faces?

It’s no secret that I love my Petite Session field, located just north of Minneapolis, a whoooooole bunch. But it’s not just for Petite Sessions; my Standard Sessions are perfect there as well! This family has been coming to me for years and we’ve gone everywhere from the beach, to a tree farm, to the Stone Arch Bridge area of Minneapolis. This year? They opted for a classic, Minnesota fall setting and you guys – I kid you not – we even got a V formation of geese flying south in one of their images! See for yourself below.

I got to spend the other evening with yet another family that has been coming to me for years and it always makes me proud. As a photographer, I cannot tell you how much it means to me to see families year after year; to watch their kids grow and to hear about all the new and exciting things going on in their lives. This family just got back from Iceland less than 24 hours before our session – talk about a family on the go!
We’ve gone to a tree farm, St. Anthony Main, the beach, and everywhere in between so this year we opted for a good ol’ field at sunset in Champlin, MN and gosh golly oh mighty was it a perfect sunset!

You know how every year I swear I’ve found my new favorite spot? Well, I’ve found my new favorite spot. Again! It’s a stunning field in the northern Minneapolis suburbs and it’s gorgeous whether it’s sunny or overcast. Room to run, open skies, and lots of green and gold – it’s a quintessential Minnesota location.
This gorgeous family won one of my Petite Sessions in a silent charity auction and used the session to celebrate their growing family. I have a feeling I’ll be seeing them again in the future, which just makes my photographer heart sing.
