I am often asked by new clients if they should opt for the Petite, Standard, or Deluxe Session and the answer is, if you have young children and don’t need a lot of the traditional everyone-smiling-and-looking-at-the-camera type images, then a Petite Session is more than enough time to capture the love and connections already present in every moment of your family.
Newborn session? Deluxe. Extended family session? Standard or Deluxe. Urban, beach, or non-field location? Standard session. Last up for today’s updates is this lovely family of four who are brand new clients this year. Many of you may not know, but that vast majority of my work are repeat clients who have been with me for years, so much so that I sometimes get lazy in my marketing and outreach to new clients (*cough* like not blogging for ages and then blogging five sessions in one day *cough cough*) so I really love it when I get to meet new families. And it’s doubly sweet when they have girls as adorable as these two were!
We ended up rescheduling this session more times than I think I’ve ever had to due to rain and icky weather but the flexibility paid off because just look at that gorgeous Minnesota fall sunset! LOOK AT IT! Okay, yelling is over.

I’ve been in business for many years and I always love finding new locations for family photography sessions but there’s something to be said about tried and true spots that deliver a stunning background year after year. This field, ladies and gentlemen, is one of them.
My go to. My ace in the hole. My rock when clients and I come up empty handed with any other ideas. It’s like your favorite pair of jeans that are always there for you and make you look gorgeous no matter how many times you spill on them or gain and lose those 15 lbs.

I am a momma to an only child myself, and I love photographing big, rowdy families, but there’s something so perfect about two parents and two kids… the symmetry of it all just flows so well. Take this beautiful family for example! Every kid has a parent’s lap to sit on, arms to run to, face to smoosh with kisses; it just works.

I’ll admit that I haven’t been the best at blogging lately, but, I have a good excuse! I’ve been so busy with so many gorgeous families this fall season that I’ve barely had time to share images except with the families themselves. I’ll post a few updates today so that everyone can see what we’re up to here in the Minneapolis NW suburb of Champlin, which has some of the loveliest field locations for family photography sessions!
I’ve had the pleasure of capturing this adorable family of three since little miss was just a few days old and it sure was sweet to see her little smiling face again.
