Where We Live Blog Circle-July_Wahkon MN Photographer
So I know I don’t actually live in Wahkon, MN- but we spend so much of our summers there that I wanted to capture its small town charm for this blog circle.
Wahkon, originally inhabited by the Ojibwe, is roughly an hour and a half north of the Twin Cities, on the south end of Lake Mille Lacs and has an official population of 206. Its industry is geared mostly towards the summer folks- restaurants, bars, ice cream shops- and, of course, fisherman. One of the most Minnesotan things to do is buy off-sale. What’s off sale? The buying of alcohol from a bar, versus a liquor store. As in, you walk into a bar, buy a 12 pack or a bottle of whiskey and just walk out with it. We keep it classy in Minnesota!
Up next is Kelley! Head on over to check her out here.
Paige Wilks - What a sweet little vacation town! So funny they advertise the “off-sale” so heavily! LOL. Love the last images of the water…so peaceful.
Where We Live – Mountain Edition » Christa Paustenbaugh - […] head over to Rebeccah Parks blog to see what beauty she has in store for […]
Kersten - These are lovely Rebeccah! I love the rich warm tones of the log buildings, in contrast with the coolness of the rocky shore and boats!
Asheley - Your images are just as warm & cozy as this little town sounds. Love the incorporation of text in the images!
jayne maartens - I can imagine visiting towns just like this will be high on my agenda if I ever get to go to America! What I love to see! Your images are so tempting! I’m confused about the ‘off-sale’ of the alcohol – you mean they take it home or elsewhere to drink? Because that’s what most Aussies do with their alcohol anyway!
Christa P. - I love that most of us did vacation photos this month – so fun to see so many different areas!
Love these photos and all the detail shots you incorporated!
