Family sessions take a back seat in the long Minnesota winter months and the newborn babies keep me on my toes instead. And really, I do not mind getting the extra snuggle time in one bit! This family has been coming to me since they were pregnant with their very first little one and now they had me over to their brand new house in South Minneapolis to welcome baby boy #2. He was a total doll and his big brother, while elusive, was no match for my quick shutter speed and ability to bribe toddlers with treats.

This gorgeous little redhead joined her family two weeks ago and has been melting everyone’s hearts ever since! Not only does she have a loving momma and daddy, but her two big brothers are just smitten. Her newborn sessions went along like all of my babies do, with a combination of posed images of just baby and then candid and family shots to capture the love of those first few days as a newer, bigger family. There’s something thrilling about bringing a third baby home; knowing that you’ll be outnumbered now. But the joy and excitement of that perfect, new little face melts away all doubt and fear and leaves parents in awe of the miracle that is their own.

This family has been coming to me for years and we always think of something fun and memorable for their sessions. This year, we decided to capture their annual family tradition of cutting their own tree at Krueger’s Christmas Tree Farm in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. The weather was absolutely perfect, the sun was shining, the kids were happy, the cider was warm, and the trees were plentiful! Not much more you could ask for. We hunted around for the perfect tree and finally found one that everyone – myself included – thought was perfect. Dad cut it down and everyone helped haul it away. It was such a fun experience and something that this client will have to look back on for decades to come. I love my 90 minute sessions as they allow me to really tell a story with the images.

This momma is one of my sorority sisters and has been with her amazing husband since we were in college, and now – they’ve added another perfect little girl to their family. At their maternity session, when I asked their oldest daughter if she knew what the new baby was going to be, she adorably responded, “she’s a she!” Her newborn session was equal parts wide awake alert baby and zonked out sleeping baby but she never made a peep or fussed; such a dream. I love capturing the first few days at home as a new family; the love and tenderness just radiates from every inch of the home.

I’ve had the pleasure of capturing this family since this little love bug was just a few days old and watching her grow is always so much fun. They had their newborn session at home, last year’s one year session in the North Loop area of Minneapolis and this year we opted for the Stone Arch Bridge area around the Guthrie Theater. It was a perfect, sunny, Minnesota fall evening and although keeping up with little miss wasn’t a cake walk, it was so worth it to capture her smile and joy.

I had the amazing pleasure to capture this family a few years back, when their adorable little guy was just a teeny thing, and now I got to see them again before they add another baby to their family. We met at one of the best forrest spots in the Minneapolis metro area and the Minnesota sunset did not disappoint us! There were footraces, puppy face licks, airplane rides, hugs, kisses, snuggles, smiles and the perfect amount of love that you’d expect at a session capturing such a fun time in a growing family’s life.

This family has been coming to me for years and I just love love love watching their sweet children grow. Their handsome son has added some killer eye glasses and lost a few teeth since last year and their little girl now has hair so amazing it almost rivals her mommas. Through it all though, they remain the same awesome kids and, as always, mom and dad are wonderful too. We’ve done beach sessions and park reserve sessions and lots of other locations over the years so, this time, mom opted for an urban session right in the North Loop of downtown Minneapolis. We had a last minute change up due to the crazy Minnesota weather forecast but, in the end, the night we selected was absolutely perfect in every way.

Fall is officially here! My most favorite season of all! And as the season changes, my favorite field location also changes from the bright green of summer to the soft gold of autumn. What better way to capture the changing Minnesota landscape then in a gorgeous field?

This super sweet family of four came out the other evening and, despite some clouds, we had the perfect time together. That Twin Cities fall weather that’s not too hot and not too cold but juuuuust right. Like Goldie Locks and the Three Bears except in weather form. Shhhh… just go with it 😉

This family has been coming to me for years, before their little guy was even a thought, and I just love getting to watch families grow. They are western Twin Cities suburbs people through and through and while we had their last session in Downtown Wayzata, this time we opted for the beauty of the botanical garden on Lake Minnetonka. It did not disappoint!

Their daughter was a total show stopper and along with her infectious smile and adorable laugh she also did a mean twirl in her fancy skirt and was a pro at being tossed in the air by daddy. I see big things in her future! And little Mr. Manchop is pretty perfect as well.
